Review of Carol's Daughter Best Tressed

source: carolsdaughter.com

I received this set as a gift for my birthday from my young daughters (amazing how their little selves made it to the mall and  bought this on their own). It comes with Black Vanilla Leave-In, Mimosa Hair Honey, Hair Milk, Tui Shampoo and Lisa's Elixir. The instructions say to do a pre-poo with Lisa's Elixir, then shampoo, followed by the leave-in. Then, layer-in the Hair Milk followed by the Mimosa Hair Honey.  I followed the instructions exactly, with the exception that I used a conditioner after shampooing. Also, I wasn't sure if I needed to use the Hair Honey while my hair was still wet or after it dried.  So, how did my hair turn out? Well, to be honest, I wasn't too impressed.  The Hair Honey on it's own is great. The Hair Milk works wonderfully on my daughters' hair and the shampoo doesn't strip my hair and smells great. The Black Vanilla Leave-In on the other hand will not be purchased by me again.  It doesn't detangle and doesn't moisturize. In fact, my hair felt harder than usual after using this. So, most of the products are good on their own. The problem is that they are all supposed to work together to make my hair more supple and moisturized. That did not happen.  Overall, it seems to be a good value and would probably work for many 3c/4a naturals.  My hair does its own thing though - when everyone else raves about something, sadly, I have learned that it will not likely work for me. Oh well, as they say, everything isn't for everybody.
